OMNIVEND™ SELECTS KIOSK PRINTING SOLUTION FROM STAR MICRONICS

OmniVend is a leading supplier and operator of a network of electronic vending systems and has developed a unique system that allows multiple products to be ‘vended’ (sold by unattended kiosk). Products that can be sold by this method include mobile phone top-up, international call credit, mobile phone content (games / ring tones / logos / text alerts), redeemable gift vouchers and coupons, cinema / concert tickets, travel tickets, bill pay and cash collection and advertising media content. OmniVend accepts cash and prints a voucher / ticket / slip that is then redeemed to activate the product.

For printing, the system incorporates two TUP992 printers from leading international printer manufacturer, Star Micronics. Supplied by DED Limited, the TUP992 is a two-colour kiosk printer capable of output at a fast 150mm per second and is designed to accommodate either 15cm or 25cm paper rolls, ranging from 0.065mm to 0.15mm in thickness. The printer also offers a multi-position adjustable near end paper sensor, presenter and document capture facilities. Its automatic paper loading facility with a 'lift and tilt' mechanism and multi-position design provide enhanced flexibility.

A further benefit is the provision of an A4 to A6 scalable raster driver facilitating reduced legible A4 or Internet output on 112mm wide paper. With its large capacity paper rolls accommodating different paper widths, a presenter that negates the majority of potential jams, easy access to the printer mechanism itself and simple paper loading, the TUP992 represents a highly versatile printer.
