STAR MICRONICS EXHIBITS NEW KIOSK PRINTER AND EXTENSIVE RANGE OF THERMAL AND MATRIX POS PRINTERS AT SIMO NETWORK,

22-24 SEPTEMBER 2009,

FERIA DE MADRID

August 2009

At SIMO Network, (22-24 September 2009, Feria de Madrid), international POS printer manufacturer Star Micronics will be demonstrating the latest additions to its extensive range of thermal and matrix POS printing solutions including the new, compact TUP500 kiosk printer.

To date, Star’s significant experience within the kiosk industry has been demonstrated by the worldwide acceptance of the highly reliable TUP900 series. Building on this series, the TUP500 provides a compact yet versatile open frame/modular kiosk printing solution capable of printing up to 220mm/second (with standard 15cm paper roll) with a default speed of 180mm/second using the optional 25cm paper roll holder. Competitively priced, the printer features adjustable and unique 45 to 82.5mm paper width functionality with a self-centring width adjuster allowing the printer to effectively respond to the most challenging of kiosk designs. And, further highlighting the complete application functionality of the TUP500 series, barcodes, receipts, tickets, labels (TUP542) etc. can all be printed on media from 0.065mm to 0.15mm in thickness.

Star will also be demonstrating its versatile TSP100 futurePRNT™ thermal printer series that offers a high performance printing solution for retail, hospitality and the kiosk industry. Renowned for its revolutionary software, quality hardware and entry-level price, Star has developed a range of models that combine exceptional performance with advanced technology and design. These include the world’s first dedicated entry-level Powered USB printer and first dedicated entry-level low cost Ethernet/LAN printer as well as a high speed 250mm/second printer in a unique full gloss ‘piano black’ or ‘ice white’ casing.

With its range of value-added software tools provided at no extra cost, any printer within the series can be transformed into an invaluable marketing tool that can effectively improve the bottom line. Working alongside existing POS software, these tools allow for the easy customisation of receipts and fast focused marketing campaigns. And, unlike any other traditional POS printer, the TSP100 futurePRNT series is unique in that all printer settings are stored on the PC rather than on the printer. These settings can then be distributed as an .xml file to all relevant PCs for mass system installations so there is now no need to remove the printer from the box before installation. Furthermore, with all set-up accessories included at purchase the TSP100 futurePRNT provides the end user with a printer that is not only ready to install and use but also one which is extremely cost effective.

Within its range of matrix printers, Star has used its significant expertise in printer design and technology to develop a new feature-rich, high speed, 9-pin matrix receipt printer capable of printing up to 8.7 lps. The SP700 is capable of fast high quality mono or two colour output using any one of the 50 included character sets with the lowest running costs any technology can offer. Alongside its easy-load ‘Drop-In & Print’ design and full or partial cutter, Star has included a see-through window for easy paper management. In either horizontal or vertical position, the SP700 has the smallest footprint in its class highlighting its space saving properties. With a new splash resistant design for robust kitchen/bar use, an internal power supply and universal cable together with interfaces that can be changed according to system upgrades, the SP700 is a highly versatile printer.

As Simon Martin, Director and General Manager, Star Micronics EMEA, states, “At SIMO Network 2009, Star will be demonstrating its extensive portfolio of printers that effectively respond to a wide range of environments. Given their reliability and exceptional functionality, our printers have been adopted by some of the largest retailers and hospitality operators worldwide including Harrods of Knightsbridge, Selfridges, Benetton and McDonald’s Germany.”
