STAR MICRONICS LAUNCHES NEW TSP100 ECO PRINTER AND DEMONSTRATES RANGE OF ‘GREEN’ COST-SAVING POS PRINTING SOLUTIONS AT EUROCIS 2010, 2-4 MARCH 2010, MESSE DÜSSELDORF, GERMANY
February 2010
At EuroCIS 2010 (2-4 March, Messe Düsseldorf, Germany), international POS printer manufacturer Star Micronics will be launching the new TSP100 ECO printer and demonstrating its range of POS printing solutions that allow retailers to not only reduce their carbon footprint but also lower their IT costs.
In recent years, Star Micronics’ position as a leading international POS printer manufacturer has been reinforced by its world-renowned TSP100 futurePRNTTM series which has been adopted by some of the largest retailers and hospitality operators including Harrods of Knightsbridge, Selfridges, Benetton and McDonald’s Germany.
Building on the worldwide success of the Star Micronics TSP100 futurePRNT series, Star Micronics is pleased to announce that not only has it launched the world’s first ECO POS printer dedicated to minimising IT environmental impact within the retail market, but it can also claim that it must now be the most energy-efficient single station receipt printer launched to date. As the name suggests, the TSP100 ECO will demonstrate a gamut of features designed to reduce environmental impact from all angles including a sophisticated power management system, which results in nearly 40% less average power consumption than any existing single station POS printer available.
Specifically developed for hospitality but with particular relevance for the hospitality, retail and kiosk industries the FVP10 from Star is the world’s first front operation, multi-functional printer with voice recognition. Barcodes, receipts, tickets and labels can all be printed on media from 0.065 to 0.15mm in thickness and with a compact footprint, wall/shelf mount option for vertical use and new pull-out drawer style this printer is the ideal space-saving solution. Offering high-quality 203 dpi output at print speeds up to 250mm/second and unique printer speech/voice function for notification of output status, this printer successfully combines the very latest in POS printer technology.
The versatility of the wide print TSP800 from Star is demonstrated in this printer currently being used by Premier Inn, the UK’s largest and fastest-growing hotel brand with 580 hotels and more than 40,000 rooms across the UK, as an A4 replacement printer at a number of its reception desks given its unique scalable raster driver, as well as by the Police in a number of countries for printing on-the-spot fines. Beyond this, the ‘green’ as well as the cost-saving benefits of the TSP700II will be highlighted given this printer’s unique ability to accommodate a 10cm paper roll.
With the largest portfolio of kiosk printing solutions available today, Star will be exhibiting its latest additions which include a range of flashing snouts for modular printing solutions as well as providing examples of its ability to customise printers to meet specific build needs such as the TUP500DP which is 25% smaller than the TUP500 printer.
And, accompanying its POS printers, Star has developed a device that eliminates the need for two Ethernet points at the POS location providing ease of installation with dip switch selectable IP address. Furthermore, Star offers a variety of software features and utilities designed to meet today’s challenges to reduce IT costs, save space and reduce paper usage.
As Simon Martin, Director and General Manager, Star Micronics EMEA states, “At EuroCIS 2010, Star further reinforces its leading position within the POS printer industry with the launch of new printers and software features that successfully combine the very latest in POS printing technology. With such advanced solutions, retailers and hospitality operators worldwide can not only reduce their carbon footprint but also effectively lower their IT costs.”
