STAR MICRONICS EXHIBITS EXTENSIVE RANGE OF
POS PRINTERS AT POST-EXPO 2011, STUTTGART MESSE, GERMANY, 27-29 SEPTEMBER 2011
At Post-Expo 2011, (27-29 September 2011, Stuttgart Messe, Germany), international printer manufacturer Star Micronics will be demonstrating its extensive range of thermal and dot matrix printers and mechanisms, designed for barcode, ticketing, receipts and labelling.
With over 30 years experience, Star Micronics has worked with a number of operators within the international postal industry, including Schenker and CTT Correios, to provide tailored printing solutions to meet even the most challenging environments. CTT Correios currently uses the TSP700II given its unique versatility in terms of its multi-functional ability to print receipts, barcodes, labels and tickets. While providing a low cost printing solution capable of printing labels or heavier weight receipts/address tickets etc. up to 0.15mm in thickness, this printer outputs at an outstanding 250mm/second. A further key feature is its Advanced Configuration Utility encompassing both simple graphic and interface management.
For its self-service kiosks, Schenker has deployed the TSP800II multi-functional printer. Small and compact, this thermal printer offers a versatile 180mm/second barcode, label, receipt and ticket printer with a unique 104mm print width on paper stock up to 150g/m2. Key features of this printer include an automatic scalable raster driver for immediate A4 reduction to virtual A6 on 112mm wide paper with no additional software required.
Expanding its successful range of multi-functional printers, Star has recently developed the FVP10. This printer offers a unique front operating vocal direct thermal printing solution allowing barcodes, receipts, tickets and labels to be printed on media from 0.065 to 0.15mm in thickness with flexible linear paper width adjustment from 58 to 80mm, thus providing complete application functionality.
With a compact footprint and new pull-out drawer style allowing for under the counter positioning as well as true ‘Drop-In & Print’ paper loading, the FVP10 is the ideal space-saving solution. Furthermore, if placed on the counter objects up to 7kg can be placed on top of the printer without interfering with its operation. Offering high-quality 203 dpi output at print speeds up to 250mm/second and unique printer speech/voice function for notification of output status (which can be used with or without external speaker), this printer successfully combines the very latest in POS printer technology.
For an eco-friendly printing solution with a range of cost-saving features, the TSP100 ECO provides the opportunity to reduce paper consumption by up to 70%, resulting in reduced paper costs, less frequent paper roll changes at the checkout as well as lower transportation and logistics costs. The default 3mm Top Margin is unique for a low cost partial cut printer and with vertical as well as horizontal reduction end users can, using the in-built software, automatically reduce the size of receipts by 25% or 50%. Unlike most POS printers that draw significant current when not printing, the TSP100 ECO has a unique power management system which means the printer will revert with the PC to a very low powered standby mode (0.05W) when not in use while ‘instantly’ waking up when required to print (29W). For certain low cost items a receipt is not always sought by the customer. To address this, the ‘receipt on demand’ tool, which can be easily turned on and off, prompts the user to ask the customer whether a receipt is required. The receipt can then be either printed or cancelled, providing yet another effective paper saving tool.
As Simon Martin, Director and General Manager, Star Micronics EMEA, states, “At Post-Expo 2011, Star Micronics will be demonstrating its extensive portfolio of POS printers designed for a wide range of environments. Given their reliability and exceptional functionality, our printers can provide the international postal industry with a range of unique as well as cost-saving features.”
