STAR MICRONICS LAUNCHES THE WORLD’S
FIRST DEDICATED ENTRY-LEVEL POWERED USB POINT-OF-SALE PRINTER
International POS printer manufacturer
Star Micronics has further enhanced its latest thermal receipt
printer, the TSP100 futurePRNT, by developing the world’s
first dedicated entry-level powered USB point-of-sale printer.
Being not only the lowest cost thermal receipt
printer available today with ALL accessories included the TSP100
futurePRNT is also capable of printing both TrueTypeTM fonts and
graphics at the same speed as ‘internal fonts’. In
fact, the TSP100 futurePRNT can print 25 x 150mm receipts per
minute regardless of font used or if graphics are included. Software
tools that enhance the overall appearance of receipts and provide
the option to create coupons based on pre-decided ‘trigger
words’ and values, all without the need for expensive software
changes, further highlight the sophistication and uniqueness of
this printer.
Following the phenomenal success to date of
the TSP100 futurePRNT Star has enhanced the versatility of the
printer by developing the world’s first dedicated entry-level
powered USB printer. With USB now the interface of choice, the
TSP100 futurePRNT with powered USB combines both the power supply
and interface and is an obvious long-term option that responds
to growing retailer demand for future-proof ‘plug-in and
go’ point-of-sale printers.
The TSP100 futurePRNT with powered USB is therefore
perfect to replace any single station printer with a free-of-charge
upgrade path when a retailer moves to using Powered USB POS terminals.
For example, for a single station printer this is achieved by
simply changing the interface cable to USB and creating a Virtual
Serial Port (if necessary) using the Star wizard included in the
TSP100 futurePRNT Printer Properties Page.
Furthermore, with improved cable management
and the benefit of being able to cost-effectively use the same
Uninterrupted Power Supply (UPS) on both the POS station as well
as the printer, at the same price as for a traditional printer,
the TSP100 futurePRNT with powered USB provides significant cost
advantages, increased reliability and the additional security
that all transactions are protected.
As Simon Martin, Director and General
Manager, Star Micronics Europe, states, “Star Micronics
has used its significant experience and expertise to develop the
world’s first dedicated entry-level powered USB printer.
This additional feature reinforces the position of the TSP100
futurePRNT as the most advanced thermal point-of-sale printer
available today.”
