STAR
PARKING TICKETS FOR REVENUE-COLLECTION SOLUTIONS
Willings Services Ltd, which specialises in
vehicle and pedestrian access control solutions for customers
including London Transport, National Westminster Bank, Avery Berkel
and ICI, has selected the Star Micronics TUP492Z thermal printer
as the preferred receipt printer mechanism for ticket issue within
its new parking machine controller, 'PMC', developed specifically
for APT.
The Star TUP492Z mechanism was chosen by Willings
following extensive evaluation of other printers, primarily because
of its capability for withdrawing and retaining a ticket, if not
collected. Andy Brown, managing director for Willings, explained,
"APT was looking for a receipt printer solution that withdrew
uncollected tickets, storing them in a secure holder to prevent
jammed mechanisms or fraudulent use of those tickets not collected.
Star Micronics' TUP492Z was the only printer mechanism fit for
the job."
The TUP492Z printer mechanism has been designed
to offer high quality 80mm per second thermal output and offers
a large paper roll capacity (8"/203mm maximum outside diameter)
for long-term unattended operation. Equipped with a presenter,
which prevents users from contact with the receipt/ticket until
the printing process is finished, optimises the TUP492Z's jam-free
operation; and the document capture facility retains uncollected
tickets.
So far, 24 car parks have been equipped
with the Star Micronics-enabled Willings parking solution, but
Brown believes that it is ideal for any organisation operating
car parks, providing long-term reliable, jam-free and secure operation.
