HIGH SPEED, HIGH RELIABILITY ECR MECHANISM LAUNCHED

Furthering its presence in the POS ECR (electronic cash register) market, leading POS printer and mechanism manufacturer, Star Micronics, has today announced the launch of the MP400 – a high performance, high-speed compact ECR mechanism, offering twice the reliability of any would-be competitors in its field.

The new print mechanism, available with immediate effect, features logic-seeking nine-pin technology and outputs at up to five lines per second. Fully graphics capable, the MP400 also offers adjustable paper widths of between 58mm and 45mm and is supplied with built-in tear bar with serrated edge and six-position black mark or paper-end sensors as standard. An optional second sensor for surface or reverse black mark sensing is also available.

In addition to the compact design (102 x 97 x 54mm) of the new introduction, the MP400’s high reliability of nine millions lines MCBF will be of particular interest to OEMs, says the company, assuring them of the long-term as well as high speed operation so essential in ECR environments.

The launch of this latest ECR mechanism follows that of the slightly larger (127 x 99 x 54mm) MP500 in June 2002, which has already met with considerable enthusiasm from OEMs. Annette Tarlton, marketing manager, EMEA, says of the new products, “For OEMs looking for true reliability and high performance ECR mechanisms, there are simply no challengers to the MP400 and MP500.”
