STAR LAUNCHES DEDICATED OS X DRIVERS
For the First Time, Retailers Can Print High Quality Receipts at POS Under MAC
At Apple Expo (Paris, 31st August – 4th September 2004) international brand-leading POS printer manufacturer, Star Micronics, demonstrated for the first time publicly in Europe its dedicated MAC OS X-compatible flagship thermal printers.
Recognised for its pioneering product development, Star Micronics is the only POS printer manufacturer to develop MAC OS X printer drivers. The company has identified a trend for retailers to capitalise on the benefits of the Macintosh operating environment, a movement that has until now been hampered by a lack of high quality printer drivers. At Apple Expo, Star demonstrated its drivers’ performance on MAC computers running OS X version 10.1 or higher with a USB or Ethernet interface.
MAC OS X printer drivers have been developed to support Star Micronics most popular retail printers. The TSP700 offers exceptionally fast performance (180mm per second) combined with the application versatility to cater for labels, tickets and barcodes as well as receipts as well as the additional bonus of AutoLogo™: a facility enabling even a novice user to create promotional graphics, coupons and vouchers specific to their defined product sales for output on receipts at POS. Unique to Star, AutoLogo enables the instigation and cessation of up to 15 different promotions at any one time, allowing retailers to instantly develop POS marketing initiatives to respond to external market forces, customer buying trends or evolving stock movements.
The TSP800 – renowned for its wide format paper output (112mm) – is also MAC compatible, offering retailers the facility of scaling A4 content (e.g. web pages) for high quality, exacting output onto its A6-sized paper in addition to its high speed performance of 150mm per second and broad application flexibility.
The TSP600 provides retailers with sophisticated, high speed printing at an entry level price and the TUP992 comprises specialist features to accommodate kiosk specification.
In all cases, the Star Micronics MAC-compatible POS printers offer easy paper loading, full colour output, control of cash drawers and as well as those features necessary to support a demanding retail environment.
