LUNN POLY STANDARDISES ON STAR FOR BUREAU DE CHANGE
In an initiative that launches 250 new bureaux de change across the UK and Ireland, travel group, Lunn Poly, has selected the Star Micronics SP2000, as its standard receipt printer.
Lunn Poly is currently undertaking a phased rollout of bureaux de change facilities to selected shops across the UK-wide, 800-strong shop network. The bureaux de change service enables customers to buy their holiday money at the same time as booking their travel. In the shops where a bureau de change facilities has not been added customers can pre-order currency and travellers cheques to arrive the next day.
The roll out of the new bureaux de change facilities launches on average seven or eight new operations per week, with a total of 250 of Lunn Poly’s 800 stores across the country receiving a bureau by the end of July this year.
Lunn Poly has selected the Star Micronics printer based on its resilience (MCBF 18 million lines), its integral audit function and its competitive cost. A 9-pin matrix receipt printer, the easy-load SP2000 is a fully graphics-capable printer, outputting at 3.1 lines per second and featuring an optional rewind option, as used by Lunn Poly. James Cartwright, spokesperson for the travel company, says of the selection, “We chose the Star Micronics printer because of its performance and because of the level of service available from the company. The Star printer is replacing those printers currently installed in existing bureau de change facilities and will ideally be implemented across 100% of the stores.”
Lunn Poly’s expansion of its bureau de change network is part of the travel group’s programme to upgrade the environment and services customers experience in their high street shops. The bureaux installations coincide with a refurbishment programme that brings holidays to life on the high street through multi-sensory design aspects – aroma machines providing the smell of coconut, the taste of fresh coffee from in-store machines, holiday music and Mediterranean colours.
